MS-HS Project

In a special election on Monday, December 8, Millis voters overwhelmingly approved the Middle-High School Building Project with a vote of 1599 For and 547 Against (74.5%-25.5%). An updated Middle-High School is essential in providing our students with the infrastructure they need to be successful as we enter the second quarter of the 21st century.

I would like to thank the School Building Committee, the School Committee, Select Board, Finance Committee, Capital Planning Committee, town officials, and our dedicated parents group for all of their work in raising awareness about this project and guiding it through the approval process. The vote was the result of hard work by so many to support our students and schools.

With the December 8 approval, the next step is for the School Building Committee (composed of town officials and residents) to select a Construction Manager. Once the Construction Manager is selected (estimate is sometime in early March 2026), pre-construction tasks and permitting will begin and take approximately one year. The schedule is for shovels to be in the ground in March of 2027 to begin the construction of the new Middle School wing and gymnasium. The new addition is scheduled to be completed by the fall of the 2028-2029 school year and the renovation of the existing building is expected to be completed by February of 2029. At that point, the building would be fully operational and work on the demolition of the 1966 wing of the building would begin.
