Services and Programs Offered:

Academic Counseling: Counselors work with students throughout the high school to help provide programs that suit their academic needs. They also help students with college and/or career planning. Counselors interface with students, parents, and teachers regarding academic issues needing attention. Parent conferences, pre-referral team meetings, and weekly progress reports are examples of these services. Continuing emphasis is placed on developing improved communication, organizational, and time management skills.

Post Secondary Planning-College/Career Counseling: Counselors guide students through the college application process, helping them link their strengths and interests to colleges and careers. Information is given regarding college admissions, requirements and organizing the college search.

Personal Counseling: Counselors provide support for students with personal problems and concerns. Conversations with students are confidential UNLESS the student is being abused or is at risk of hurting himself/herself or others.

Seminars/Groups: The School Counseling Department conducts seminars to discuss topics relevant to each grade level.

Parent Nights: Parent nights are currently held for 11th and 12th grades, along with a high school transition night for 8th grade students and parents. Helpful information on relevant topics is discussed and distributed at Parent Nights.

STAT (Student Teacher Assistance Team): Counselors meet regularly with the principal, the school nurse, school adjustment counselor, school psychologist and selected faculty members regarding student progress or concerns. Parental comments and concerns are always welcome.
